For my British friends...

Shaganappi Trail is the name of a main road in Calgary, Alberta. I lived in Cowtown for a few years when I was about 12 to 16 years old and again for a year after my five years in England. I've been familiar with the term 'shaganappi' since I was 12; it's a Cree word meaning twine made from rawhide, but after being in Britain for five years, whenever I see the word the oddest imagery enters my head... as I'm sure you can imagine. Sorry about that. ;-)

  1. That's wrong, lady! I was just appreciating the whole thing about rawhide twine (quite handy in cootoon i'd imagine) when you brought up nappies.

I once visited a pal in St Albert near Edmonton. That's only a few hundred miles from Calgary, which is close in Canadian terms.

Alberta seemed a bit dull if i'm honest but we also went to Vancouver which was erm....quite stunning. Lucky you.

  4. Now hear this, I will have no rawhide twine appreciating fantasies on my blog... besides my own!

Vancouver?!?! (curses and spits!!!) I agree that Vancouver looks very, very nice and I suppose it's much livelier than Deadmonton but I live on that slice of land off the coast... Vancouver Island, right at the southern tip.

I hope that you visited the Rockies.

  7. Can I be the first to point out that it's ok if it's just the nappy that's being shagged? Or is that just wrong too? ;-)

  12. That's a new one for my vocabulary then. Thanks for that. I guess I asked for it didn't I. Still trying to decide whether I'm in the 'drip' or 'heavy' category.
