A few characters

I normally don't like taking photos of people. I hate it done to me so I don't do it to others... unless I just can't resist! Here are a few people who have caught my eye in the last little bit.

'Polly wants a cracker and then let's get on yer bike and go downtown for a latte.' Apologies for the blurriness, it was a drive-by.

Boarder dude has assertively grabbed an entire lane and is waiting patiently and very properly behind the white line for the light to change. Skateboards are a fairly common mode of getting around here and many of the boarders move in the traffic as a car or cyclist would. I've not seen that in many other cities.

Flower powered cyclist chick!

  3. You can't help it if people keep jumping in front of your camera. Stoospid people! Don't they recognize an artiste at work? Have you taken up a new pastime such as chasing Fire Trucks by any chance?

  4. OMG!!! Kathreen, will you marry me? That's great! I'm going to try it!

Naldo - plenty of freaks on the coast, these are very tame, really. I just feel an ethical barrier (or something) about taking photos of people... unless I have a very good sense that they would like it, like the attention.

Ha Bogey, some people chase ambulances... someone's gotta chase fire trucks. Actually I suspect there are people who do.

I once knew someone obsessed by houses being moved. And would 'chase' that. There's a lot of that here - build a house on this island and barge it over to a smaller island moving heritage homes, etc... I often thought he should write a book as some of the stories he told and the pics he had were rather interesting (or I'm geeky enough).

  5. Cool post. I was wishing for my camera phone the other day when I walked the dog and spotted someone "mowing" their front lawn with a weed trimmer. You would have had to see it to believe it!
Love your new toastie blog header.
