Now THESE are hummmingbird piccies!

I was out walking with my camera yesterday and woohoo!!! I saw a wee hummingbird zip across my path so I stopped and looked and looked and ah-huh! found it perched in some brambles. Unlike my previous post about a hummingbird, yesterday was sunny (better light to see their iridescence), I had my DSLR this time and a zoom lens on it and I could get much closer to it.

Result! Here are four photos - I took about 50! lol. I've uploaded the original sized photos - so do click on them to enlarge them. The detail is great.

A hummingbird when the light is not quite right.

"Hey! Are you taking my piccie?"

The colour in those feathers is amazing.

Iridescence, full on! Lovely wee bird.

Flowerballs

Or balls of flowers or balled flowers...?

Last night, out for a stroll, I saw these:

I used to garden a lot and got quite obsessed with it all but I have never come across these weird little doodads.

Whatever they are, they make a nifty silhouette planted amongst some birds of paradise:

Part of me likes the idea that they're actually 'real' daisy-like flowers and someone has come along and plucked and pocketed every single petal. :D

But, if you look real close (enlarge) you can see many tiny blooms on the right side of the ball.

Or I think they're blooms?

Does anyone know what these flowers are?

That's My World Tuesday... people powered.

A few days ago I went for a walk along Westsong Walkway - a walking path that hugs part of the shoreline of Victoria's Inner Harbour. It's a fantastic place to walk... or just sit on a bench and watch other people make healthy fitness choices that you know you should probably be making. ;-)

Here they come...

There they go...

And a kayaker heading for the hills.
